· BOOK BITES GUIDELINES for WHISPERS IN PURPLE BLOG
- Accepting submissions for 2012, NEW releases (or re-releases) beginning January 1, 2011.
- BookBites feature days are Tuesday and Friday.
- It may be a print book or e-Book, or both. Fiction or non-fiction. I will accept anthologies. If each co-author wants a spot, that’s great, but you must work with your co-authors and agree on giveaways. If it’s an anthology of your own work, no problem!
- I do not require an advance copy, but I reserve the right to request one.
· This will NOT be an interview, and there will be NO review of your book.
- I would prefer no "canned" interviews, but I'll work with you on that. The whole purpose of Book Bites is to present YOU and your book in a fresh and different way; not something that can be found on every other blog in the world. In other words, this is YOUR show.
- The post will be entirely in your own words. A chance to "toot your own horn" however you want. Here are some suggestions:
- Guest blog on any topic related to your current book (or series): talk about the setting, characters, under-lying theme . . .
- There is no specific word count, but I’d like to keep it right around 1600 words.
- Provide a question for readers to answer, either related to your post or perhaps finding something specific on your website to return to BookBites to answer.
- Book cover and buy links.
- Your website URL, and/or, your blog. Can include both, if applicable.
- A brief bio and headshot.
- If doing a giveaway, what boundaries? Lower US only; US & Canada, etc. Of course, if offering and e-Book, there are no boundaries.
- I will add ONE link to a sidebar "gadget" for you, so choose the one where you want the most traffic.
- You are responsible for your own promotion. I will post on Twitter and Facebook, but it’s up to you to send it to those who would be interested. When your spot is posted, mention it on your website or blog! Tweet it, or mention it on Facebook or any other social network. Follow the comments on Whispers in Purple to your book spot and respond. It's a win-win deal that way.
- A reciprocal link or other mentions is appreciated.
- Before you query, please check out prior Book Bites spots to see what I'm looking for.
- Finally, after you're booked, please get your fully-written article with any attachments to me at least 36 hours before your scheduled date. Sooner, if possible, as I like to post my blogs ahead when I can.
- In a perfect world, I will contact you with a reminder about a week before you're scheduled.
